Split out of #159 and rebased on current main (c5731f4): fixes 2 and 3 of #159, unchanged in substance. Small and independent; it does not depend on the other parts of #159.

Overlap: #196 and #201 add a parameter on the same lines of five launch builders (TerminalManager, both bridges, both launch modules). The conflict is textual only; whichever lands second I will rebase at once, keeping both parameters as #159 had them.

Both fixes are about the agent runtime bridges: what CanvasTTY writes for a card (its status hooks and tools) has to land where the CLI reads it, and what a card's tool call looks like when it reaches a decision service has to say what the call does. Two commits, one per fix, plus three review-fix commits on top (see "Review fixes").

1. Grok and Kimi cards in a contributed home stayed "working" and had no CanvasTTY tools

fix(runtime): give Grok and Kimi cards in a contributed home their status hooks and tools

Problem

A launch:contribute plugin may start a CLI with its own home; the docs mention this for an account's config home. Such a Grok or Kimi card never left "working", approvals were not shown, wait_for_agent timed out, and Kimi had no canvastty_browser / canvastty_agents.

To reproduce: have a launch contribution set GROK_HOME or KIMI_CODE_HOME to a folder in its data folder (<userData>/plugin-data/<pluginId>/...) and start a card.

Cause

Grok Build reads hooks only from <GROK_HOME>/hooks, and Kimi Code reads them (with its MCP servers and permission rules) only from <KIMI_CODE_HOME>/config.toml and mcp.json. CanvasTTY wrote its overlays into the default homes only; ProviderRuntimeLaunchAdapters and ProviderLaunchAdapters fix one home each at construction.

Fix

  • LaunchPipeline reports the home as the launch's accountHome only when the contributor that set GROK_HOME / KIMI_CODE_HOME set it strictly inside its own data folder (the host's record, PluginManager passes dataDir; never the plugin's answer), at least <plugin>/<home> deep.
  • TerminalManager hands that home to both bridges; the Grok/Kimi lifecycle overlay (ProviderRuntimeLaunch) and Kimi's browser/agents configuration (ProviderLaunch) are written there instead of into the default home, shared by the cards in that home and removed with the last one.
  • A variable pointing anywhere else, including another plugin's data, leaves the launch exactly as before. Nothing else is ever written.
  • Inside plugin data, every folder from plugin-data down and every file CanvasTTY writes must be real (no symbolic link is followed or written through); otherwise the launch is refused with a clear message.
  • The existing lock, journal, backup and marker rules apply unchanged, so the person's own settings in that home are restored byte for byte. The checks live in a new accountHomes.ts, shared by both overlays.
  • Claude Code, Codex, Qwen Code and OpenCode take their hooks from the launch's arguments or environment and already work in any home; they are untouched.

This builds on main's own Kimi home handling: 1.8.5 (9bc8b7fa) already added KIMI_CODE_HOME to the isolation tables, so #159's fix 1 is not part of this PR, and this change does not touch isolationPaths.ts. The default Kimi home is still resolved the way main resolves it (KIMI_CODE_HOME, else ~/.kimi-code). Main has no account-home rule of its own (#148's contributedAccountHome was not merged), so the rule is defined once, here.

Test

New tests/agent-runtime-account-homes.test.mjs (18 tests, three of them added for the review fixes below): ownership (own data folder only, not another plugin's, not the data folder itself), Grok and Kimi overlays with the default home untouched, byte-for-byte restore with the file mode kept, crash recovery, idempotent sharing per home, symbolic links refused, a new account's home created private, Kimi's tools (per-run MCP file and shared mcp.json), and end to end from LaunchPipeline through TerminalManager to both bridges.

On 2367505 without the fix (only accountHomes.ts kept so the file loads), 10 of the original 15 tests fail: the overlays and tools go to the default home, the account home gets nothing. With the fix all pass.

Review fixes

Three commits on top, one per topic:

  • fix(runtime): keep an account home's leases when its overlay is refreshed. When the hook set changed (a plugin hook registered) while an older Grok/Kimi card still ran in an account home, the next launch replaced the home's entry and reset its user count, so closing the newer card removed the overlay the older card still used. A refresh now replaces only the overlay and keeps the lease count, as the default-home overlays do. Test: "a changed hook set refreshes an account home's overlay but keeps the earlier launches' leases" (Grok and Kimi; fails before, passes after).
  • fix(runtime): compare account homes by whole segments and the normalized default home. A folder whose name starts with two dots (..cache) was taken for a parent and refused; only a whole .. segment leaves the data folder now. A default home configured with a trailing separator (KIMI_CODE_HOME=/a/b/) was compared as written, so the same folder named without it counted as a separate account home and closing that card removed the default card's hooks and browser tools; the default home is resolved before the comparison. Tests: "a folder whose name only starts with two dots is inside, not a parent" and "a default home configured with a trailing separator is still the default home" (runtime and browser adapters; both fail before, pass after).
  • test(runtime): use native paths and platform modes in the account-home tests. The four Windows CI failures: the ownership fixture used a POSIX absolute path, and three tests compared POSIX permission bits. Paths are now built with the platform's root and separator; the privacy checks stay exact on POSIX (0600 hooks file, 0700 new home) and on Windows check that a real file or folder, not a link, was written; the Kimi file mode is compared with its own mode before the launch on every platform.

This PR still adds one trailing parameter to ProviderRuntimeLaunchAdapters.prepare (accountHome) and one option to the browser prepare (accountHome); #201 adds environment in the same places. They do not overlap in meaning; whichever merges second keeps both.

2. Decision services could not tell an OpenCode write from an edit

fix(opencode): send OpenCode's file tools to decisions in Claude Code's shapes

Problem

Command review and other decision services saw every OpenCode write, edit and multiedit as an edit with only {file_path, content}. A whole-file write looked like a partial edit, and an edit's replaced text was missing, so a service could not see what it removes.

Cause

The OpenCode decision bridge (src/agent-runtime/opencode-decisions.mjs) mapped all three tools to one shape.

Fix

Send Claude Code's names and shapes, which hooks and decision services already read:

  • write → Write {file_path, content} (the whole new file)
  • edit → Edit {file_path, old_string, new_string, replace_all}
  • multiedit → MultiEdit {file_path, edits: [{old_string, new_string, replace_all}]}
  • bash and apply_patch are unchanged.

Base protection reads file_path for Write, Edit and MultiEdit as before. The docs (plugins.md en/ru/zh-CN, plugin-api.d.ts) list the shapes OpenCode's tools arrive in.

Test

tests/decision-hooks.test.mjs: each shape, a deletion keeps its empty new text, a call without a path is not sent, and through DecisionHooks the service gets kind edit, the path and both texts, while a MultiEdit outside the project is still denied.

Without the fix, this test fails (edit instead of Write); with the fix it passes.

Verification

  • npm run build (includes typecheck) and npm run audit:secrets: pass.
  • Targeted: agent-runtime-account-homes and decision-hooks, 31 tests, 31 pass; each fix's tests fail with its source reverted (see above).
  • Full suite (macOS arm64, throw-away HOME/XDG/CLI homes): 2,717 tests, 2,711 pass, 0 fail, 6 skipped (main c5731f4: 2,699 tests, 2,693 pass, 0 fail, 6 skipped; the 18 new tests are the account-home file).
  • No renderer code changes; the renderer bundle is unchanged.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Grok and Kimi launches can use isolated, plugin-specific homes for hooks and configuration, with safeguards for files and folders.
    • OpenCode file-writing actions are represented consistently in plugin decisions, including structured edits and replacement details.
  • Documentation
    • Updated plugin guides to describe OpenCode tool names and the input formats available to decision hooks. These formats cover shell commands, file writes, edits, and multi-file edits.

…atus hooks and tools

Grok Build reads hooks only from GROK_HOME/hooks and Kimi Code only from
KIMI_CODE_HOME/config.toml; Kimi also reads its MCP servers (mcp.json)
and permission rules there. CanvasTTY wrote its lifecycle hook overlays
and Kimi's browser/agents configuration into the default homes only, so
a card a launch contributor started in its own account home (an account
pool) ran without working/idle/needs_approval status and without the
canvastty_browser / canvastty_agents tools.

When a launch contributor sets GROK_HOME / KIMI_CODE_HOME to an account
home below its own data folder (<userData>/plugin-data/<pluginId>, from
the host's record), the launch pipeline reports it as the launch's
account home and the same overlays are written there instead, shared by
the cards in that home and removed when the last one ends. A variable
pointing anywhere else, including another plugin's data, leaves the
launch as before. Inside plugin data every folder from plugin-data down
and every file CanvasTTY writes must be real (no symbolic link), or the
launch is refused. The overlays keep the existing lock, journal, backup
and marker rules, so the person's own settings are restored byte for
byte. The checks live in accountHomes.ts and are shared by both
overlays.

Claude Code, Codex, Qwen Code and OpenCode take their hooks from the
launch's arguments or environment and already work in any home.
…'s shapes

OpenCode's decision bridge sent write, edit and multiedit all as toolName
"edit" with {file_path, content}. A decision service could not tell a
whole-file write from a partial edit, and an edit's replaced text was
dropped, so it could not see what the edit removes.

The bridge now uses Claude Code's names and shapes, which hooks and
decision services already read:
- write: Write {file_path, content}
- edit: Edit {file_path, old_string, new_string, replace_all}
- multiedit: MultiEdit {file_path, edits: [{old_string, new_string,
  replace_all}]}
- bash and apply_patch are unchanged.

Base protection reads file_path for Write, Edit and MultiEdit as before.
A test goes through DecisionHooks: the service gets kind "edit", the
path and both texts, and a MultiEdit outside the project is still
denied. The docs (en/ru/zh-CN, plugin-api.d.ts) list the shapes
OpenCode's tools arrive in.

P2 Badge Retain existing leases when refreshing an account overlay

When a plugin hook registration changes while an older Grok/Kimi launch still holds this home, the next prepare() replaces the entry and resets its user count. Older cleanup closures still decrement the discarded entry, so closing the newer card removes the overlay even though the older launch still owns a lease. In particular, TerminalManager may still be awaiting environments.wrap() for that older launch, causing it to subsequently spawn without its lifecycle hooks. Keep the home-level leases attached across signature replacements, rather than counting only launches prepared after the replacement.

Fixed in fix(runtime): keep an account home's leases when its overlay is refreshed. When the hook set changes while older cards still run in an account home, the next launch now replaces only the overlay and keeps the home's lease count, as the default-home overlays already do. The overlay is removed only when the last launch in that home, older or newer, is released; a failed refresh with no remaining users drops the entry. Test: tests/agent-runtime-account-homes.test.mjs, "a changed hook set refreshes an account home's overlay but keeps the earlier launches' leases" (registers a plugin hook between two cards in one home, for Grok and Kimi). It fails before the commit (the overlay is gone after the newer card closes) and passes with it.

P2 Badge Normalize the default home before comparing it with the candidate

If the configured default KIMI_CODE_HOME is inside the contributor's data directory and ends in /, a contribution naming that same folder without the separator is incorrectly classified as a separate account home: the candidate is trimmed, but both adapter constructors preserve the default home's trailing separator. Default and contributed cards then acquire independent overlays for the same files. Preparing the contributed card recovers the default card's active configuration; after it closes, subsequent default-home cards reuse the stale entries instead of recreating the removed hooks and shared Kimi configuration. Normalize both paths before excluding the default home.

Fixed in fix(runtime): compare account homes by whole segments and the normalized default home. ownedAccountHome resolves the default home before comparing, so a default KIMI_CODE_HOME with a trailing separator and a contribution naming the same folder without it are the same home, and the launch uses the default-home overlay. This covers both the runtime and the browser adapters, since both go through ownedAccountHome. Test: "a default home configured with a trailing separator is still the default home, not an account home" (direct check, plus a default card and a contributed card in the same folder in both adapters: closing the contributed card keeps the default card's hooks and browser tools). Both adapter parts fail before the commit and pass with it.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to cc125

The previously identified account-home path issue is fixed. No actionable merge-blocking issue remains from the supplied evidence.

Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to cc125

Account-home writes have meaningful ownership checks, and browser access still requires a valid session capability. However, temporary permissions in the newly supported homes can survive interruption without being restored at startup. The principal concern is lingering permission state, not demonstrated unauthorized browser access.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: Temporary security configuration now reaches Kimi account homes that startup recovery does not visit. After a crash or deferred cleanup failure, the user-scope browser-tool allow rule, and fallback MCP entries when used, can remain until the same home is acquired again. The base wrote this configuration only into the default home covered by recovery. Normal cleanup and recovery on reuse reduce the window, and gateway authentication prevents treating the stale rule alone as browser authority, but permission restoration no longer covers every home the application mutates.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The new persistent-write scope is the set of eligible Grok/Kimi homes under the local user's plugin-data tree. Multiple homes can retain interrupted overlays, but participation requires an enabled, native-code-trusted contributor with a trusted launch service and launch:contribute permission. No cross-user or remote exposure is established by this route.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — The supported failure path is an account-home launch followed by interruption or unsuccessful cleanup, application restart, and subsequent CLI use of that home before reacquisition restores it. Temporary permission state remains on disk during that interval. This is a configuration-lifecycle concern, not a verified gateway bypass: browser authentication still requires a live matching lease and capability.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Both account-home consumers revalidate the destination. Validation requires a canonical absolute path at least two segments below the configured root, excludes the default home, checks real directory components, creates missing components privately, and rejects symbolic links at named write targets. These are point-in-time path checks, not an OS-level capability against concurrent filesystem replacement.
  • observed — The OpenCode translation retains the existing decision path: recognized file calls reach base protection before plugin decisions, deny takes precedence, only authorized services may allow, and truncated input cannot receive an effective plugin allow. The guard remembers approval by call ID and answers the CLI permission request only once.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Kimi browser configuration normally releases after the last user, rejects incompatible active capability changes, and uses journals, ownership markers, hashes, and configuration locking to remove owned changes while preserving unrelated edits. Terminal cleanup releases browser configuration before runtime overlays and revokes browser capability even when configuration cleanup is deferred.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Use a host-owned record of touched account homes, or an equivalent bounded recovery mechanism, so interrupted temporary configuration can be restored before new launches without waiting for that account to be selected again. Revalidate ownership during recovery and define cleanup behavior for rollback to a version unaware of account-home overlays.

@BIackFIame This is not ready to merge at addba156.

  • The existing inline findings about overlay leases and default-home normalization remain valid.
  • Please also address CodeRabbit's path-segment finding.
  • Windows CI has four failures in agent-runtime-account-homes.test.mjs: the ownership fixture assumes a POSIX absolute path, and three assertions expect POSIX modes on Windows. Use native paths and platform-appropriate assertions while retaining the security checks.

Please rebase onto current main to pick up the repository's CodeRabbit configuration. Coordinate the shared launch-builder parameters with #201, preserving both changes. Runtime behavior still requires the owner's hands-on acceptance before merge.

…e tests

Four account-home tests failed on Windows. The contributedHookHome
fixture named the contributor's data folder as a POSIX path
("/data/..."), which is not an exact absolute path there, so every home
in it was rightly refused. Three tests compared POSIX permission bits,
which Node does not report on Windows.

The fixture now builds its paths with the platform's root and
separator. The privacy checks stay exact on POSIX (0600 hooks file,
0700 new home); on Windows they check that CanvasTTY wrote a real file
or folder and not a link. The Kimi test compares the person's
config.toml mode with what it was before the launch, on every platform,
and with 0640 on POSIX.
…zed default home

Two path checks in accountHomes.ts were too loose:
- A home below the contributor's data folder whose first segment only
starts with two dots (a folder named "..cache") was taken for a
parent and refused, so the launch quietly used the default home and
its hooks and Kimi tools went where the CLI does not read them. Only
a whole ".." segment leaves the folder now.
- A default home configured with a trailing separator
(KIMI_CODE_HOME=/a/b/) was compared as written, so a contribution
naming the same folder without it counted as a separate account home.
Default and contributed cards then held independent overlays of the
same files, and closing the contributed card removed the default
card's hooks and browser tools. The default home is resolved before
  the comparison.

Tests cover a "..cache" home (accepted and written), a bare ".."
(refused), and a trailing-separator default home in both the runtime
and the browser adapters.
…shed

When the hook set changed (a plugin hook registered or removed) while an
older Grok/Kimi card still ran in an account home, the next launch there
replaced the home's entry and started its user count at zero. The older
card's release then decremented the discarded entry, so closing the
newer card removed the overlay while the older card still held the
home, and a launch still being wrapped could start without its
lifecycle hooks.

A refresh now replaces only the overlay and keeps the home's lease
count, as the default-home overlays already do; the overlay is removed
when the last launch in that home, older or newer, is released. A
failed refresh with no remaining users drops the entry.

The new test registers a plugin hook between two cards in one home for
Grok and Kimi and checks the overlay stays until both are released.

  • Overlay leases: done, see 4437477228, with a regression test.
  • Default-home normalization: done, see 4437477229, with a regression test for both adapters.
  • CodeRabbit's path-segment finding: done, see 4439564405, with a regression test.
  • Windows CI: fixed in test(runtime): use native paths and platform modes in the account-home tests. The ownership fixture now builds its data folder with the platform's root and separator (a drive path on Windows). The three mode checks stay exact on POSIX (0600 hooks file, 0700 new home, the person's 0640 config kept); on Windows they check that CanvasTTY wrote a real file or folder and not a link, and that the person's config mode is the same as before the launch. I checked the rest of the file for other POSIX or LF assumptions; the remaining POSIX-looking strings only feed string functions that trim separators or are refused on every platform.
  • Rebased onto current main (c5731f4); the original two commits are unchanged, the review fixes are three new commits on top.
  • fix(agents): keep ambient admin keys from agents and credentials from delegated cards #201: both PRs add a trailing argument after claudeHttpHookBase in ProviderRuntimeLaunchAdapters.prepare and an option to the browser prepare (accountHome here, environment in fix(agents): keep ambient admin keys from agents and credentials from delegated cards #201). They are independent; whichever merges second keeps both.
  • Build, typecheck and secret audit pass; no renderer changes. Full suite: 2717 tests, 2711 pass, 0 fail, 6 skipped (main at c5731f4: 2699 tests, 2693 pass, 0 fail, 6 skipped; the 18 new tests are the account-home file).
  • Runtime behavior still needs your hands-on check: a Grok or Kimi card started by an account contributor in its own home should show working/idle/needs_approval and, for Kimi, have the browser and agents tools.

I'm on vacation for about a month and will be mostly unavailable until then, so my replies will be slow. The branch is rebased on current main and the review fixes above are ready for review.
