Turns on the viewer word check on the staging wall. The coordinator ran with the default --text-check none, which refuses every word: a viewer who writes "Hi!" reads "Hi!" was not added: the text check failed: no text check is configured.

Change

  • fcvm-fleet.tf, coordinator command: --text-check bedrock --text-check-model us.anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 --text-check-region us-west-2, from the bedrock-haiku.tf locals. The deployed image has these flags (ejc3/fcvm, since 2026-10-22).
  • fcvm-fleet.tf, coordinator task role: bedrock:InvokeModel on the us.anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 inference profile in the fleet account and on the anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 foundation model in any region. The US profile routes from us-west-2 to us-east-1, us-east-2 and us-west-2, all of them fleet regions the account SCP admits. Also aws-marketplace:Subscribe limited to Haiku 5.5's product and ViewSubscriptions, as the box roles have, because the fleet account's first call subscribes it.
  • bedrock-haiku.tf: the header names the coordinator as another Haiku 5.5 caller.
  • scripts/test-fcvm-fleet.py: test_the_coordinator_checks_viewer_words_with_haiku_it_may_invoke pins the flags and the grant. It fails on main and passes here.

Model access in the fleet account

The fleet account has not called Bedrock before. If its first call is refused for model access (Anthropic's first-time use details not submitted for that account), the coordinator log shows text check failed with the Bedrock error and viewers read "couldn't check that word, try again" (ejc3/fcvm#1372, merged and deployed to staging). Submitting the use case for the fleet account, or from the organization's management account, fixes it with no Terraform change.

Verification

  • python3 -B scripts/test-fcvm-fleet.py: 51 tests OK; the new test fails against main's fcvm-fleet.tf.
  • scripts/test-bedrock-haiku.py, test-fcvm-fleet-account.py, test-dolphin-region-scp.py: OK. terraform fmt -check: clean.
  • The checker's prompt against us.anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 in us-west-2 from a dev box: "Hi!" and "Hello from 8 GPUs" allowed, an insult, a phone number and "kill" + "you" refused.
  • After apply: write a word on stage.fcvm.dev and see it in the scene.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • The fleet coordinator now checks viewer-submitted words using an AI text checker, helping identify potentially inappropriate content.
    • The checker uses the configured model and region.

The staging coordinator ran with the default --text-check none, which refuses
every viewer word ("the text check failed: no text check is configured").

- fcvm-fleet.tf: the coordinator command gains --text-check bedrock with the
US inference profile us.anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 in us-west-2 (the
  bedrock-haiku.tf locals).
- fcvm-fleet.tf: the coordinator task role may call bedrock:InvokeModel on that
profile in the fleet account and on the anthropic.claude-haiku-5-5 foundation
model in any region it routes to (us-east-1, us-east-2, us-west-2, all fleet
regions the account SCP admits), plus the Marketplace subscribe for that one
product on the account's first call, as the box roles have.
- bedrock-haiku.tf: header names the coordinator as another Haiku 5.5 caller.
- scripts/test-fcvm-fleet.py: pins the flags and the grant.

Walkthrough

The FCVM fleet coordinator now enables Bedrock text checking with the configured Haiku inference profile and region. Its task role gains model invocation and AWS Marketplace permissions. A test checks the command configuration and policy.

Explanation

The title "fcvm-fleet: check viewer words with Claude Haiku 5.5 on Bedrock" matches the main change. The PR adds Bedrock text-check flags to the coordinator command and grants its task role permission to invoke the Haiku 5.5 inference profile and model. The title is specific and short. It names the component, the action, and the model. The Marketplace permissions and the test additions are supporting details and do not need to appear in the title.

Ready at exact head 23b481f: independent HIGH code/security review, 75 ARM tests, 11 positive/negative IAM simulations, required CI, and Codex code/security reviews passed. CodeRabbit's first-use finding is resolved by the successful fleet-account activation check and confirmed AVAILABLE agreement (see resolved thread); no application Unsubscribe permission was added. Greptile did not respond and is not counted as an approval.

The actual policy candidate was checked against IAM's aggregate inline limit and fits. Deployment will verify the live role, exact checker prompt and coordinator service health. No test scene mutation or GPU launch is needed.

The combined deployment is complete at e4e019d. Terraform apply succeeded, followed by a full 2,524-resource plan with exit 0 / no changes. /infra/applied-status is published clean for this commit.

The new coordinator revision 45 has one running task, zero pending, a completed rollout and a healthy DNS target. The deployed flags select Bedrock, the intended Haiku 5.5 profile and us-west-2. Simulations against the actual task role allow all four required profile/model resources and deny another model; the model agreement remains AVAILABLE. A short administrative invocation using the deployed checker's exact public prompt returned ALLOW for Hi!. This verifies the account/model path separately from the actual-role IAM checks. The initial file-descriptor-limit warning was nonfatal; the process began listening and passed health checks.
