Updating

HACS update

  1. Install the available Advanced History update from HACS.
  2. Restart Home Assistant when the release contains Python changes.
  3. Hard-refresh the browser if it still loads the previous frontend version.

Statistics Graph Chart Card is updated separately through HACS. Update it to the latest available version before updating Advanced History so all current graph options and editor features are available.

Updating from version 1.x to 2.0

Advanced History migrates existing version 1.x configuration entries automatically. Existing chart defaults and explicit numeric graph heights are preserved. To use responsive numeric sizing, set height: auto or remove the explicit height entry from Numeric chart options.

Statistics Graph Chart Card v3.32 or newer remains the minimum requirement. Update it to v4.02 or newer before using multiple Advanced History panels.

Legacy beta configuration changes

If YAML was saved while testing a beta release from before version 1.0.0, update these renamed keys manually:

  • Replace series with attributes.
  • Replace include_area_on_duplicate_names with include_area_names.

Manual update

  1. Download the new manual archive.
  2. Replace /config/custom_components/advanced_history with the updated directory.
  3. Restart Home Assistant.
  4. Refresh the browser.

Local development builds

Repository developers should run python3 scripts/build_dev.py after completing and testing an integration or frontend change and before uploading the local build. The builder increments the tracked counter in dev-build.json, injects development metadata into the packaged integration, and creates dist/advanced_history-dev-<build>.zip. The counter resets to 1 when the manifest version changes.

Installed development builds display the manifest version followed by -dev.<build> beneath the Advanced History title, making the exact local package easy to identify. The generated build.json and ZIP are build artifacts and are not committed. Documentation-only, test-only and repository-metadata-only changes do not require a development build.

Confirm the loaded version

The integration version appears in Home Assistant's integration details. The frontend also writes its loaded version to the browser console.

Review the release notes before updating, especially when moving between major versions.
