Keep blob handles valid while messages reference them.
MediaLoader.data(for:client:) releases the blob after the first successful read. The loader does not retain files of 24 MiB or more, and cached files can later be evicted or removed by clear(). A later read of the same .blob(id) can therefore fail because the server contract makes the ID unreadable after ReleaseBlob.
Remove this release from MediaLoader. Release the handle only after no message or view can request that ID again.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Do not apply an out-of-band Snapshot RPC over the Watch cursor.
apply(snapshot) replaces providers, epoch and sequence with the values from a separate Snapshot call. That call is not ordered with the live Watch stream.
- Newer snapshot: the stream has delivered
S+5and the snapshot is atS+10. The guardsequence > self.sequencethen drops eventsS+6..S+10. Message events are not in a snapshot, so those messages, reactions and unread counts are lost. - Older snapshot: directory updates that the stream already applied are rolled back. The stream does not resend them until the next reconnect.
The retry only needs the provider's new instance. Update providers[name] from the snapshot's ProviderView and leave epoch and sequence unchanged. The Watch stream delivers the restart events in order.

Use the login function that the login step names.
first(where: { $0.id == step.function || $0.action == .login }) returns the first function that matches either condition. A provider can offer more than one .login function. If another login function comes before step.function in the list, the screen runs the wrong one or opens the wrong form. Use an explicit allowlist of client-visible fields, not a name check plus a denylist.
fields() decides which template settings to show by checking the configured provider name (spec.name == "gmail" or "echo"). Any other name uses a substring denylist (token, password, secret). Two failures follow:
- Suppose the operator names a Gmail entry
gmail-work, or adds a second Gmail entry. The heuristic branch then runs.catalog()returnsoauth_client_id,oauth_redirect_uriandserviceindefaultsthroughpublic_settings.configurethen accepts client overrides for those keys, for example a differentoauth_redirect_uri. - Some credential keys do not match the denylist, such as
api_key,private_key,credentialorauth. These keys are sent to paired devices inProviderCatalogand can be overwritten throughConfigureProvider.
APP_API.md states that the catalog contains only "public settings" and no saved tokens. Choose the visible fields by component type or by an explicit per-spec list. Do not derive them from the user-chosen name. At minimum, extend the denylist to key, credential and auth.
The global learning "exclude sensitive fields … from the serialized … object" applies to this catalog response.

Startup fails when a persisted account's provider type was removed from the config.
After the first account change, providers.json holds the account list. A failed per-folder expunge check commits no baseline, but a STATUS failure drops the folder's previous state.
states contains no entry for a folder whose STATUS fails with an IMAP error. Line 283 then replaces p.states with states, so the previous baseline for that folder is gone. On the next successful STATUS, changedFolders reports the folder as new, as intended. That part is fine.
The real problem is in the expunge-detection loop at lines 263-281. If Select or UIDSearch fails for one changed folder, sync returns an error before line 283. The baseline is not updated, so the next poll retries that folder. However, a folder that loses SELECT permission keeps failing on every poll. One bad folder then aborts every sync, and the provider stays Disconnected. Treat an *imap.Error from Select or UIDSearch the same way as a STATUS failure: skip the folder and delete its entry from states, so the check retries without blocking other folders.

Review comment at @providers/email/mail.go around lines 262 - 283:
In the changed-folder expunge check, handle *imap.Error from both Select and
UIDSearch by deleting that folder from states and continuing to the next folder;
keep returning other errors. This lets the folder be retried later without
blocking the remaining sync.
