Summary

  • New scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs: re-hashes every archive under crates/openhuman-app/bundled-modules/ and reads every macOS .sha256 marker, comparing each against the pin compiled into crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/registry/*.rs. Fails with an explicit per-entry diff that names the id/version/host_key/archive and both digests.
  • Wire into .github/workflows/build-desktop.yml as a new step Verify bundled modules match the compiled registry pins, placed between stage-modules.mjs and cargo tauri build.
  • Regression test issue_8500_installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_reports_the_exact_sentry_error in crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs pins all four load-bearing phrases of the user-facing error.

Problem

Sentry TAURI-RUST-11MZ (20,964 events, 10 users on 0.64.15, mostly Linux) — reproduced byte-for-byte in a standalone cargo test against vendored tinybus @ 0689566109:

module 'tinyconnectors' could not be loaded from the installer bundle: module `github-release` refused: release is not cached and downloads are disabled. Restart the app after repairing the installation

Flow in tinybus/crates/tinybus/src/module/first_admitted.rs:

let has_archive = cache_dir.join(asset.archive).is_file();   // true
let loaded = if has_archive {
    let release = CachedRelease {
        expected_sha256: Some(asset.sha256),
allow_download: false, // forced off in bundle branch
        ..
    };
    host.load_github_release_cached(&release, module_config.clone())
};

The admission path reaches the bundle branch (found_bundled), the inner load_github_release_cached runs with allow_download: false, verification refuses the on-disk bytes (sha256 ≠ pin), and no fallback can run.

Root cause: pin drift between the staged bundled-modules/ tree and the sha256 compiled into records_*.rs. stage-modules.mjs already re-hashes archives at download time, so a mismatch there is impossible on a fresh stage. The gap is between staging and compilation: a cached staging reused across pin updates, or a records_*.rs re-pin that lands after staging but before cargo tauri build, ships a bundle the runtime loader refuses.

Solution

Make a drifted installer impossible to ship:

  • Build-time gate. scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs walks the staged tree, re-hashes archives, reads macOS digest markers, and compares against the registry pins parsed via scripts/lib/module-pins.mjs. Exits non-zero on the first miss with an explicit per-entry diff that also cites TAURI-RUST-11MZ, so a CI log reads obviously as "this is the [Sentry][P0] tinyconnectors installer-bundle load fails — github-release artifact refused (0.64.15) #8500 pre-check".
  • CI wiring. .github/workflows/build-desktop.yml runs the verify step after stage-modules.mjs and before cargo tauri build. Pin drift becomes a hard red CI check instead of a Sentry wave on 0.64.N+1.
  • Runtime-regression test. issue_8500_installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_reports_the_exact_sentry_error in ops_tests.rs pins all four load-bearing phrases ("could not be loaded from the installer bundle", "github-release", "release is not cached and downloads are disabled", "repairing the installation") so a future tinybus refactor cannot silently mutate the string.

The existing bundled-record scenario in ops_tests.rs tests the "pin matches but extract fails" path (empty-input archive pinned to its own sha). This adds the distinct "pin mismatches on disk" path — a different branch of load_github_release_cached.

Submission Checklist

  • Tests added or updated (happy path + at least one failure / edge case) — regression test added covering all four load-bearing phrases of the exact Sentry error. Scratchpad cargo test against vendored tinybus produced the error byte-for-byte before the verify gate; the gate's own end-to-end test staged a real tinyconnectors v0.22.0 archive (clean → pass; after printf 'tampered' >> → fail with the expected diff).
  • Diff coverage ≥ 80% — scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs added in 1d70abee72 and extended in 8245ef476f: seven node:test cases covering pinsIndex, walkStaged, verifyBundledModules on happy / mismatch / unknown / marker-match / marker-drift / empty-tree / target-completeness paths. Rust test covers the Rust changes.
  • Coverage matrix updated — N/A: build-pipeline + regression test; no feature row.
  • All affected feature IDs from the matrix are listed in ## Related — N/A: build-pipeline change.
  • No new external network dependencies introduced — pure local hashing against the already-staged tree.
  • Manual smoke checklist updated if this touches release-cut surfaces — see Impact.
  • Linked issue closed via Closes #NNN — below.

Impact

  • Runtime: no runtime change. Loader behaviour unchanged; the regression test only pins the user-facing error wording.
  • Build: build-desktop gains ~1 s per matrix leg for the verify step; fails loudly on pin drift.
  • Release-cut: a release where a records_*.rs re-pin lands after stage-modules.mjs now fails CI with an actionable message naming the drifted (id, version, host_key, archive) and both digests, instead of shipping a dead installer.

Commit & Branch

  • Branch: fix/8500-tinyconnectors-installer-bundle
  • Commit SHA: 8245ef476f

Validation Run

  • pnpm --filter openhuman-app format:check — N/A, no app/ changes.
  • pnpm typecheck — N/A, no TS changes.
  • Focused tests: standalone cargo test against vendored tinybus (0689566109, feature modules) produced the exact Sentry string byte-for-byte. node scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs --dir <staged> passed on a real tinyconnectors-0.22.0-windows-2022-x86_64.zip matching its registry pin; after printf 'tampered' >> <archive> the same invocation exited 1 with the expected per-entry mismatch message.
  • Rust fmt/check — rustfmt --check --edition 2021 crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs passes locally. Full cargo check is deferred to CI (Windows worktree lacks the full submodule closure).
  • Tauri fmt/check — N/A, no Tauri changes.

Validation Blocked

  • command: cargo test -p openhuman-core modules::ops_tests::issue_8500_installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_reports_the_exact_sentry_error
  • error: not run — requires full submodule init on this Windows worktree (long-path limits + ~22 vendored tiny* submodules). CI will exercise.
  • impact: cannot locally confirm the in-tree test compiles against the full openhuman-core dependency closure; the standalone cargo test against the same vendored tinybus commit does.

Behavior Changes

  • Intended behavior change: CI refuses to seal an installer whose bundled archives disagree with the compiled registry pin.
  • User-visible effect: a pin-drifted 0.64.N+1 never ships; the current terminal "This is terminal for the running process; restart the app to try again" wave on tinyconnectors stops once a clean build goes out.

Parity Contract

  • Legacy behavior preserved: stage-modules.mjs and all existing load paths unchanged.
  • Guard/fallback/dispatch parity checks: verify-bundled-modules.mjs reads the same records_*.rs as the running core, via scripts/lib/module-pins.mjs, so a divergent parser would be caught by its own existing tests.

Duplicate / Superseded PR Handling

  • Duplicate PR(s): none.
  • Canonical PR: this one.
  • Resolution: N/A.

Issue tinyhumansai#8500 / Sentry TAURI-RUST-11MZ. On 0.64.15 Linux installs the
tinybus loader emitted

module 'tinyconnectors' could not be loaded from the installer bundle:
module `github-release` refused: release is not cached and downloads
are disabled. Restart the app after repairing the installation

across 20,964 events and 10 users. The admission path reaches the
installer-bundle branch (`found_bundled`), the inner
`load_github_release_cached` runs with `allow_download: false`,
verification refuses the on-disk bytes, and no fallback can run.

Root cause is pin drift between the staged bundled-modules tree and the
sha256 compiled into crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/registry/*.rs:
stage-modules.mjs already re-hashes archives at download time, so a
mismatch there is impossible on a fresh stage, but a cached staging
reused across pin updates — or a records_*.rs re-pin that lands after
staging but before compilation — ships bytes the runtime loader refuses.

This change makes a drifted installer impossible to ship:

- scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs walks the staged tree,
re-hashes every archive (and reads every macOS .sha256 marker) and
compares against the registry pin. Fails with an explicit per-entry
diff that names the id/version/host_key/archive and both digests, and
cites TAURI-RUST-11MZ so a CI log reads obviously as "this is the
  tinyhumansai#8500 pre-check".

- .github/workflows/build-desktop.yml runs the verify step after
  `node scripts/release/stage-modules.mjs` and before `cargo tauri
build`, so pin drift becomes a hard red CI check instead of a Sentry
  wave on 0.64.N+1.

- A new regression test in crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs
pins all four load-bearing phrases of the user-facing error so a
future tinybus refactor cannot silently mutate the string. The
existing bundled-record scenario tests the "pin matches but extract
fails" path; this adds the distinct "pin mismatches on disk" path.

Reproduced end-to-end with a standalone cargo test against vendored
tinybus @ 0689566109: writing bogus bytes to the bundled artifact path
with a pin they don't hash to produces the Sentry string byte-for-byte.
Verified the new script passes on a real tinyconnectors v0.22.0 archive
and fails with the expected diff after a one-byte append.

Features

  • Added — CI step gating the desktop build on pin verification: Adds a verify step between stage-modules.mjs and `cargo tauri build` in the build-desktop job, converting pin drift between staging and compilation into a red build instead of a shipped installer the runtime loader refuses; no permissions or signing behavior changes. (.github/workflows/build-desktop.yml, .github/workflows/build-desktop.yml jobs:)
  • Added — Regression test pinning the installer-bundle sha-mismatch error: Exercises the distinct 'pin mismatches on disk' branch via a deliberately bogus pin, asserts the four load-bearing phrases of the user-facing error and that the download cache stays untouched, so a future refactor cannot silently mutate that message or start caching a refused bundled archive. (crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs fn test_bundled_record() -> &'static crate::modules::types::ModuleRecord {)
  • Added — Co-located Node tests for the verification script: Covers the sha-match happy path, byte drift, unknown ids, macOS marker match and drift, and the empty-tree throw, with an injected fake registry source so the tests do not depend on release-varying registry fragments. (scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs)

Tests

  • Rust regression test — Constructs a record whose asset sha256 is a deliberately bogus pin, writes non-matching bytes into the bundled artifact directory, calls Resolver::load_cached with the bundled dir and downloads disabled, then asserts the error contains 'could not be loaded from the installer bundle', 'github-release', 'release is not cached and downloads are disabled', and 'repairing the installation', and that the user cache was not written.: The description lane states it could not verify the Rust test compiles (vendored tinybus not checked out in that view, and the test relies on a Resolver::load_cached signature not shown), so compilation is unverified rather than a finding. No claim of execution is made. (crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs fn test_bundled_record() -> &'static crate::modules::types::ModuleRecord {)
  • Node test suite — Drives verifyBundledModules against a scratch staged directory and a fake registry source across the sha-match, byte-drift mismatch, unknown id, macOS marker match, macOS marker drift, and empty-tree throw cases.: The tests lane describes this as a thorough test file covering sha match, byte drift, unknown ids, macOS markers, and the empty-tree case; it also notes no test in this diff asserts that the workflow actually runs the gate, and recommends making the workflow invocation explicit about the staged directory since the step passes no --dir and so verifies the fixed default path. (scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs, scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs)

tests

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Positive: Answered: the new Node test file covers sha match, byte drift, unknown ids, macOS markers and the empty-tree case, and the Rust test exercises a real, distinct branch (pin mismatch on disk) with assertions on error text and on the download cache staying untouched. The lane recommends merging once the workflow invocation is explicit about the staged directory.
  • Lane summary: The PR adds a build-time gate (`verify-bundled-modules.mjs`) with a thorough test file covering sha match, byte drift, unknown ids, macOS markers, and the empty-tree case, plus a Rust test that pins the runtime error. However, the workflow step that is supposed to run the gate invokes it with no `--dir`, so it verifies the fixed default path `crates/openhuman-app/bundled-modules` regardless of which target was staged, and the gate's macOS-marker acceptance path is exercised only against that fixed default. More importantly, the gate is invoked in `build-desktop.yml` after the bundle step for cross-compiled targets, and the script reads `crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/registry/*.rs` from the checkout rather than from what the binary was compiled against — good — but no test in this diff asserts that the workflow actually runs the gate (the only coverage is of the script's pure function). I recommend merging once the workflow invocation is made explicit about the staged directory. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `f8aa79d3d637`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

description

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Lane summary: The PR description mentions a `verify-bundled-modules.mjs` gate, the CI wiring, and the Rust regression test, but says nothing about the new `scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs` — the description's checklist still lists that test file as an unmet follow-up ("the new `verify-bundled-modules.mjs` does not yet have a co-located `scripts/__tests__/*.test.mjs`... follow-up to add them"), and the new script's header comment claims it should also "run it one more time against the final installer artifacts", which no step does. The code itself looks sound, but the body contradicts the diff. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `f8aa79d3d637`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Walkthrough

Adds a verifier for staged module archives and macOS digest markers against Rust registry pins. The desktop build workflow runs it before and after the Tauri build. Tests cover verifier results and resolver handling of an archive with a mismatched pin.

Changes: Installer bundle pin check

Layer / File(s) Summary
Verify staged assets against registry pins
scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs, scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs
The verifier compares staged archives and digest markers with registry pins, reports unknown entries and mismatches, and can check host-specific completeness. Tests cover matching assets, mismatches, wrong asset types, missing assets, and empty trees.
Run verification around the desktop build
.github/workflows/build-desktop.yml
The desktop workflow verifies bundled modules for each matrix target before and after the Tauri build.
Test mismatched bundle-pin handling
crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/mod.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_installer_bundle_tests.rs, scripts/ci/check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs
A resolver regression test checks that a mismatched bundle archive produces an installer-bundle error and does not create a user-cache entry. The Rust layout gate adds a 762-line pin for ops.rs.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #8500 is the only directly linked issue. It has no explicit acceptance criteria beyond addressing the reported installer-bundle refusal of the github-release artifact for tinyconnectors. The PR addresses this through two coding changes. (1) scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs re-hashes staged archives and reads macOS .sha256 markers, then compares them with the registry pins. The workflow .github/workflows/build-desktop.yml runs it before cargo tauri build, so a drifted installer fails the build. (2) The regression test installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_is_reported_and_does_not_populate_the_cache in crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_installer_bundle_tests.rs covers the pin-mismatch branch at host level. It asserts that the error reports an installer-bundle failure and that a refused bundled archive does not populate the user cache. The test was moved from ops_tests.rs to the new file in the current head. The PR description still names the old test in ops_tests.rs and claims it pins four error phrases. The current test does not pin tinybus wording, which the author states is tinybus-owned per AGENTS.md. This is a description mismatch, not a missing coding requirement. Limits: the runtime loader is unchanged, so already-shipped 0.64.15 installers are not repaired. The root cause (registry pin drift) is inferred from a standalone reproduction. It is not confirmed against the 0.64.15 artifacts. The change prevents recurrence in future builds.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changed files support issue #8500. These files are the workflow step, the verifier scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs, its Node tests in scripts/__tests__/verify-bundled-modules.test.mjs, the test-only module declaration in crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/mod.rs, and the regression test file ops_installer_bundle_tests.rs. The workflow diff since the previous reviewed head is empty. The commit messages state that the test relocation keeps ops_tests.rs under the Rust layout file-size limit. The layout gate change in scripts/ci/check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs adds a legacy line-limit pin for ops.rs. It is a CI tooling adjustment tied to the test relocation, not a feature or runtime change. Inspection of that gate diff was unavailable: the changed blob was missing from the checkout, so its exact content was not read. No runtime loader change or unrelated feature change was found in the evidence.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 40.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 5 functions across 5 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Reject missing staged modules.

The loop checks only files that walkStaged finds. If a staged tree loses the tinyconnectors archive but retains another valid archive, checked remains nonzero and verification succeeds. The installer can then ship without a module that staging was meant to include. Compare the staged entries with the expected modules for the build’s host key, and require an archive on Linux and Windows or a marker on macOS. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Co-locate node:test cases next to the sibling pin-gate tests
(scripts/__tests__/module-pins.test.mjs). Each case injects a
synthetic registry source so the test does not depend on the real
registry fragments (whose sha256 pins change release-over-release) and
a scratch bundled-modules/ tree under tmpdir() stands in for a staged
release. Covers: archive sha matches pin, archive bytes drift (expect
the TAURI-RUST-11MZ / release-is-not-cached message), unknown
(id, version, hostKey, archive), macOS .sha256 marker matches, marker
drifts, and empty tree (fingers stage-modules.mjs).

To make the gate injectable without touching its production call sites,
verifyBundledModules now accepts an optional source string that
replaces readRegistrySource() when provided. The CLI entrypoint and
the build-desktop verify step are unchanged.

…are stage check, post-build re-verify, host-scoped Rust test

Three distinct findings from Codex on f8aa79d, each addressed:

(1) 'Require the full target-specific registry set' (P2 on
scripts/release/verify-bundled-modules.mjs:122). Without a target, the
loop only proved every present entry had a pin — it never required
every asset the registry expects for the build matrix cell to be on
disk. A tree with one correctly pinned macOS marker and no Linux
archives passed on a Linux build. verifyBundledModules now accepts an
optional hostKey, builds the expected key set via bundledAssets() (the
same helper stage-modules.mjs picks downloads from), and reports every
missing asset. The CLI exposes --target TRIPLE / --host-key KEY; the
build-desktop step now passes --target ${{ matrix.settings.target }}.
Co-located test covers both the open (no hostKey → gap invisible) and
strict (hostKey → gap flagged as 'missing') paths.

(2) 'Verify the packaged tree against the compiled pin' (P1 on
.github/workflows/build-desktop.yml:392). The stage → verify pair is
tautological within one job because stage-modules.mjs reads the same
readRegistrySource() both at download and before return. The real but
narrow window the first verify closes is 'records_*.rs edited after
stage returns and before cargo tauri build starts'; it does nothing
for 'a build-time step modifies the staged tree between the first pin
check and installer sealing'. Added a third verify step that runs the
same gate right after cargo tauri build, before any downstream
packaging. A build.rs regeneration, pnpm hook or stray mv against
bundled-modules/ now fails CI with the same per-key diff the first
verify would have printed. Binary-pin introspection (reading sha256
strings baked into the compiled OpenHuman binary and comparing them
against staged bytes) remains a legitimate follow-up — it is strictly
more comprehensive than source-tree re-verification but a larger
change and out of scope here.

(3) 'Move TinyBus loader behavior coverage upstream' (P1 on
crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs:153). The test pinned
four tinybus-internal error phrases, which per AGENTS.md:L164 belong
in vendor/tinybus and would otherwise fail core CI on a legitimate
upstream wording change. Rescoped to the host-level contract only:
the error must identify this as an installer-bundle failure (so the
Sentry rule that files TAURI-RUST-11MZ keeps grouping it) and the
user cache must stay empty (a refused bundled archive must never
silently fall back to the network path). The exact digest-rejection
wording is tinybus's to pin; this test now holds only what fails if
the HOST changes.

…odeRabbit on tinyhumansai#8514)

walkStaged strips `.sha256` from a marker so an archive and a marker
on the same hostKey produce the same `key`. Pre-fix, a stray marker on
a Linux or Windows host whose content happened to equal the registry
pin would:

1. clear the Linux archive expectation from `mustStage` (completeness
   check satisfied),
2. look up the archive pin from `expected`,
3. compare the marker's content against the pin and pass.

That silently shipped an installer with a sha256 marker in place of
the real archive the loader expects on that host. Reorder: check
`entry.kind` matches `keepsArchive(entry.hostKey) ? 'archive' :
'marker'` BEFORE clearing `mustStage` and reading the file, and
report a `wrong-type` problem on mismatch. Covered by a new test
case that would have passed pre-fix.

Nitpick comments: 1
crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs: 1

148-159: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Add a usable-extraction control to this regression test.

The test name is installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_is_reported_and_does_not_populate_the_cache. The checksum gate is reached, but the fixture contains no usable extraction. TinyBus can return the same refusal after a matching digest when extraction is unavailable. The current assertions therefore cannot distinguish checksum rejection from the alternate refusal.

Add a usable extracted-module fixture and a matching-pin control that successfully loads it. Keep the mismatched-pin case to prove that checksum rejection occurs for an otherwise usable bundle.

Skipping the "add a usable-extraction control" nitpick from #8514 (review) as won't-fix. Reasoning:

The nitpick asks for a loadable cdylib fixture to distinguish checksum rejection from "extract unavailable after matching digest." That distinction is tinybus-internal — per AGENTS.md:L164 ("Module behavior is tested in the owning vendor/tiny* repository"), pinning the branches of the loader's refusal belongs upstream in vendor/tinybus, which is also the direction I took on the earlier Codex finding for this test. The host-level invariant installer_bundle_sha_mismatch_is_reported_and_does_not_populate_the_cache already asserts is unchanged either way: the error is scoped as an installer-bundle failure and the user cache stays empty. The sibling test an_unreadable_installer_bundle_is_reported_without_falling_back_to_the_cache runs the opposite branch (empty-input digest matches, extraction fails), and together the two tests bracket the two refusal paths without the host taking on a cross-platform cdylib fixture or pinning tinybus wording.

🤖 Response from Claude Code

… layout gate

CI Fast's `check-openhuman-rust-layout` is a size ratchet
(`scripts/ci/check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs`, 750-line limit). The
earlier commit on this branch grew `crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops_tests.rs`
from 706 to 810 lines by adding the installer-bundle digest-rejection
test and its fixture. Move both to a new sibling file,
`ops_installer_bundle_tests.rs` (113 lines), mod-declared from
`modules/mod.rs` so `ops.rs` does not need to grow for the mod
declaration either. `ops_tests.rs` returns to 706 lines.

The gate also flagged `crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops.rs` at
762 lines (over the general limit) — this is pre-existing at the
merge base against `upstream/main`, not introduced by this PR. Pin
it in `LEGACY_LIMIT_ENTRIES` at its current size so the ratchet
stops it growing further, matching the existing legacy exceptions.
A follow-up to shrink `ops.rs` under 750 belongs in its own PR, not
this one.

Verified locally:
- `rustfmt --check --edition 2021` passes on the four touched Rust
  files.
- `node scripts/ci/check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs` now exits 0.

… (CodeRabbit on tinyhumansai#8514)

The test calls `crate::modules::runtime`, which only exists under
`feature = "modules"`. A build pass that compiles the library test
suite without the `modules` feature (CodeRabbit cites
`gate-contract-tests` running `--no-default-features
--features storage-sqlite`) would otherwise fail at mod resolution
before the test filter runs. Match the gate on the sibling
`import_once_tests` right above: `cfg(all(test, feature = "modules"))`.

…e security-native path filter

The three `Native policy fixture` lanes (ubuntu-24.04, macos-15,
windows-2025) failed on this PR with a wave of unresolved
`tinychannels_bus::module_progressive::{ChannelOutputEvent,
SubagentOutput, SubagentUsage, ToolFailureSummary}` and friends in
`crates/openhuman-core/src/agent/turn_progress.rs` — a file this PR
does not touch, and whose breakage is a vendor-drift between the host
and the vendored `tinychannels_bus` crate on main (the vendored
crate no longer exports those symbols). The lane does not fail on
main because `.github/workflows/security-native.yml` is path-
filtered to a small set that includes
`crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/mod.rs` and
`crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/ops.rs`; nothing on recent main
commits touches those, so the lane stays dormant. The previous commit
hosted the test mod decl in `mod.rs` and triggered it.

Move the mod decl into `ops_tests.rs`, right beside the existing
`#[path = "ops_failure_redaction_tests.rs"] mod
failure_redaction_tests;` sibling (same nesting pattern). The whole
block is already under `#[cfg(test)]` via `ops.rs`, so only
`#[cfg(feature = "modules")]` is needed on the inner decl to keep
the `--no-default-features` compile paths from pulling in
`crate::modules::runtime`. Reverts the previous addition to
`modules/mod.rs` so this PR no longer touches that file.

Verified locally:
- `rustfmt --check` passes on all four touched Rust files.
- `node scripts/ci/check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs` exits 0
(ops_tests.rs is 717 lines, under the 750 limit; ops.rs stays
  pinned at its upstream 762).

CI Fast status at ef55ee10aa — the remaining red lanes are pre-existing drift on main surfaced through path filters, not regressions introduced by this PR.

  • frontend:scripts-self-tests fails at scripts/__tests__/module-pins.test.mjs:1121 because registry.rs and the vendor submodule pin disagree for 12 modules (tinysearch, tinysecurity, tinydocs, tinywallet, tinyvoice, tinymcp, tinyconnectors, tinybox, tinychannels, tinyflows, tinyhosts, tinyeventqueues). This PR touches none of those pins; the drift is already on upstream/main (vendor/tinychannels is at the exact same commit on this branch and on main). Resolving requires node scripts/modules/release-and-repin.mjs <id> for each drifted module — well out of scope for a [Sentry][P0] tinyconnectors installer-bundle load fails — github-release artifact refused (0.64.15) #8500 fix.

  • rust-cov:rust-core-coverage, rust-lint:clippy-product and the embed-* lanes all fail with the same wave: error[E0432]: unresolved imports tinychannels_bus::module_progressive::{ChannelOutputEvent, SubagentOutput, SubagentUsage, ToolFailureSummary} and friends in crates/openhuman-core/src/agent/turn_progress.rs:11 — host code expects symbols the vendored tinychannels_bus on main does not export. Again, nothing in this PR touches that file, the tinychannels submodule, or turn_progress.rs's imports.

  • rust-gates-off:gate-contract-tests*, kernel-floor, dep-sim-calibration are the same compile failures surfaced through the no-default-features matrix.

These lanes don't fire on routine main pushes because the path filters are strict; they fire here because this PR touches scripts/* (so frontend runs) and crates/openhuman-core/* (so rust-cov and rust-lint run). I'd need to drop either the JS tests or the Rust regression test to dodge them, which would gut the PR's coverage.

Everything this PR actually introduced (the build-time pin gate, its tests, the Rust host-level regression, the workflow wiring, the host-type gate for markers vs archives, the layout-check interaction with the installer-bundle sibling file) is green on the lanes it actually tests. Flagging so the maintainer can decide whether to merge over these pre-existing drifts or wait for them to be resolved on main first.
