Issues

• Stored data is not integrity-checked: a flipped bit in the witness table is served silently, and a transient read error rolls the tip back on every start

• Electrum and Esplora index list the genesis coinbase as a height-0 history entry and spendable, and list OP_RETURN / witness-commitment outputs as unspent

• RPC and decoding compatibility nits versus Bitcoin Core

• Operator polish group: CLI/help and docs mismatches, startup and shutdown behaviour, resource sizing, listener hygiene and hardening suggestions

• rbitcoin-cli: negative numbers are rejected as unknown arguments, digit-only hex strings are sent as JSON numbers, and common Core options are missing

• Unknown or misspelled conf-file keys only produce a WARN (unknown CLI flags are fatal): security-relevant typos fail open

reardencode/rbitcoin#1359 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• SIGHUP, SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2 terminate the node with no shutdown flush (only SIGTERM and SIGINT are handled)

• A datadir created for one network opens silently under another (--network forgotten or wrong): no genesis or magic check

reardencode/rbitcoin#1357 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Tip-follow from a peer session stops after 8000 received headers: the pending-headers cap refuses every new header

reardencode/rbitcoin#1356 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• A high-bandwidth compact block is announced before its body can be served: getblocktxn/getdata for it are dropped and a downstream peer stalls one block behind

reardencode/rbitcoin#1355 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• --tor-control has no I/O timeout and no line-length cap: a control port that never answers hangs startup (SIGTERM ignored), one that streams data grows memory without bound

reardencode/rbitcoin#1354 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Accepting blocks on a side branch gets slower with every block (whole held blocks are cloned in ancestor walks)

reardencode/rbitcoin#1353 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Restarting without --sh-index after it was once on does not fail closed: Electrum/Esplora keep answering scripthash queries from the stale index

reardencode/rbitcoin#1352 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• kill -9 during the first start or during the first index build leaves a store that refuses every later start ('scripthash leftover live OA index; wipe store/scripthash*'), even without index flags

reardencode/rbitcoin#1351 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Scripthash index silently and permanently misses confirmed transactions after a plain kill -9 while an index-enabled node is catching up (also: Electrum/Esplora stay down until the next block)

reardencode/rbitcoin#1350 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Every prevout lookup decodes all of them: Transaction validation cost scales linearly with the number of outputs of the funding transaction

reardencode/rbitcoin#1349 · Filter by author nullcount opened on Nov 2, 2026

• Many privacy options have leaks: proxy with --connect names leaks DNS, --only-net onion still queries clearnet DNS seeds, private broadcast loses transactions, I2P uses one-hop tunnels, Tor control publishes wallet servers by default

• Listeners accept unlimited or never-timed-out idle connections (health, Esplora, inbound P2P key exchange, RPC) and one accept error kills the Electrum listener; descriptor exhaustion takes the node down

• Unclean power loss leaves state that open-time repair does not detect

• IBD getheaders locator puts walk checkpoints before the confirmed tip, so a peer with a heavier fork keeps serving headers the node already has

  reardencode/rbitcoin#1337 · Filter by author niteshbalusu11 opened on Nov 1, 2026

• IBD stops below its valid prefix after a batched consensus reject and never re-requests the dropped bodies
