TensorFlow and Pytorch do not provide/recommend conda

TensorFlow:

Note: Do not install TensorFlow with conda. It may not have the latest stable version. pip is recommended since TensorFlow is only officially released to PyPI.

We should therefore probably change the guidance on conda environments to use pip rather than conda install...

Interesting... conda is still the first provided option for PyTorch v2.5.1 here.

But yes, if we can confirm it works then it looks like we should be going with pip.

I will leave this issue open and revisit the pip/conda differences later as PyTorch still pushes conda for 2.5.1 (the most relevant version for us in this release) and I couldn't get a working TensorFlow environment with pip or conda.
