Astro theme developer from Veghel, the Netherlands — building websites since 2010, over a decade of it with WordPress, and since 2022 with Astro. These days I design, build & maintain free, open-source themes for the Astro community. Design and code, for the love of it.
My new theme — sleek, very fast, and built on Astro 7, with everything you need for a modern and beautiful website: 44 designed components, 8 colour themes, dark mode, full i18n, search, SEO, and a 4×100 Lighthouse score.
- 🧩 Listed in the official Astro themes directory
- 🌍 Built on by developers around the world
- ⚡ Proven in production — it powers hansmartens.dev

And more themes are in the making.
- Every component designed to look right in every colour theme, in light and dark mode
- Fast by default — SEO, accessibility, and performance built in from the first commit
- Maintained in the open: new features ship opt-in, and every GitHub issue gets a real conversation
- Working alongside Claude as a thinking partner, not a shortcut
I write about building themes, Astro, and what makes websites fast — everything learned building my own themes and websites.
