Summary

  • Bundle Devel::Size 0.87 with Java XS registration and JOL-backed JVM size estimates.
  • Add focused tests for exports, scalar and aggregate growth, shared references, and cycles on both backends.
  • Document that total_size includes reachable PerlOnJava runtime objects and that $warn/$dangle remain compatibility variables.

Validation

  • Upstream Devel::Size 0.87 suite on system Perl: 205 tests passed (warnings test skipped because Test::PerlRun is unavailable).
  • Adapted project test on system Perl and both PerlOnJava backends: passed.
  • nice -n 19 make: passed.
  • JPERL_TEST_FILTER=Devel-Size nice -n 19 make test-bundled-modules: passed.
  • make check-links: passed.

JOL could not obtain Instrumentation or the Serviceability Agent under the current launcher, so estimates use JOL's fallback JVM layout strategy.

Add the Devel::Size Perl wrapper and Java provider backed by JOL. Document that total_size measures reachable PerlOnJava JVM objects, and add focused coverage for exports, scalar and aggregate growth, shared references, and cycles.
