Apache-Admin-Config 0.95 fails in AUTOLOAD method proxy calls #1899
Apache-Admin-Config 0.95 fails under PerlOnJava because its new method constructs Apache::Admin::Config::Tree with forward-qualified indirect-object syntax before the target package is declared. The parser treats the class name as a direct call instead of an indirect constructor, leading to Can't call method "Tree" on an undefined value in AUTOLOAD.
Evidence
CPAN regression run 20261027-085020-3852; the tester records a prior pass on 2026-10-04 at commit 3af9e3128.
System Perl 5.42.2: all 13 test programs and 1,042 tests pass.
PerlOnJava before the fix: all 13 test programs abort; focused t/comment.t reproduces on both JVM and interpreter backends.
A project regression test now covers object type and argument forwarding for this syntax. It passes on system Perl and, after the fix, both PerlOnJava backends.
Environment: macOS. The archived log does not record a Java version.
The distribution is pure Perl and declares only core FileHandle as a prerequisite.
