What

Note

context: this is one of a few fixes from round-tripping the Nuxt docs through parseMarkdown -> renderMarkdown.

docs/1.getting-started/10.data-fetching.md has:

::warning
Beware that using only `$fetch` will not provide [network calls de-duplication ...](...). :br
It is recommended to use `$fetch` for client-side interactions ...
::

which comes back as two paragraphs. br always renders as two trailing spaces plus a newline, and the text after it already starts with \n, so the output has a blank line.

this keeps \n where it round-trips, so Hello \nWorld is unchanged, and otherwise writes :br, or <br> when the previous character can't start an inline component.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Line breaks are now represented more appropriately in Markdown and COMARK output, including explicit :br directives where needed.
    • Round-trip parsing now preserves line-break structure in cases involving words, components, inline code, and consecutive breaks.
  • Documentation
    • Added an inline-component example with warning content, line breaks, and inline code.
    • Updated a no-content directive example to use an explicit line-break directive.

  • Run npx skills add coldteadotai/pr-lens, then tell your coding agent: "Diagram the change you just made with PR Lens and attach it to the pull request."
  • Run npx @coldtea/pr-lens-cli analyze --base origin/main on a branch, then npx @coldtea/pr-lens-cli render .pr-lens/graph.json. Same lenses, your own model key, before the pull request exists
  • Click the link under each diagram to open it on a canvas you can zoom, pan and step through
  • The diagrams are links. Click one to open it on the canvas, then press W or click play to walk through the change
  • The CLI's render reads .github/pr-lens.yml and applies your renames, exclusions and lane pins at draw time
  • Set github.comment.collapsed: true in .github/pr-lens.yml to fold the comment behind one View architecture… row. Drawing still runs as before
  • Set github.draw: on-demand in .github/pr-lens.yml and PR Lens stops drawing pull requests on its own. Comment @pr-lens draw on a pull request when you want that one drawn
  • Add .github/workflows/pr-lens.yml with coldteadotai/pr-lens/packages/action@v0 and your model provider's key as its api-key to run PR Lens from your own CI. Any /chat/completions endpoint works
  • After a push, tick Redraw to draw the latest commit
  • Switch GitHub to dark mode and the diagrams follow. The moving dots are this pull request's data in motion
  • Set github.description: false in .github/pr-lens.yml to stop PR Lens adding buttons to your PR descriptions

Walkthrough

The br stringifier now chooses between a Markdown hard break, :br, and <br> based on node context and output format. New round-trip tests and specification examples cover line breaks in inline contexts.

Changes: Break serialization

Layer / File(s) Summary
Break output and round-trip coverage
packages/comark/src/internal/stringify/handlers/br.ts, packages/comark/test/roundtrip-safety.test.ts
The br handler selects output based on node position, adjacent nodes, whitespace, and format. Round-trip tests cover breaks before words, after components and inline code, and between consecutive breaks.
Break examples and bundle snapshot
packages/comark/SPEC/COMARK/inline-component-br.md, packages/comark/SPEC/markdown-directive/directive-no-content.md, test/bundle.test.ts
The specification examples show inline-component breaks and use :br instead of a whitespace-only line. The published-size snapshot changes from 398k to 399k; the expected file count remains 158.

Avoid a literal delimiter after $.

For ['p', {}, 'a$', ['br', {}], ['br', {}], ' word'], this emits a${}:br.... The attributes parser skips {} after $, so reparsing adds {} to the text. Use a delimiter that remains nonliteral after $, and cover this case in the round-trip tests. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the `open` delimiter selection in the `<br>` handler so consecutive
breaks after text ending in `$` do not emit a literal delimiter that the
attributes parser consumes as `{}`; use a delimiter that remains nonliteral in
this context. Add a round-trip test for the provided input and verify reparsing
does not add `{}` to the text.

Delimit breaks before following elements.

For ['p', {}, 'a ', ['br', {}], ['a', { href: '/url' }, 'x']], this emits a :br[x](/url). The component parser consumes [x] as the break’s content, so the link is lost on reparse. Delimit the break before following elements as well as following strings. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

32:
Update the break-handler logic around `COMPONENT_NAME_CHAR.test(next)` so it
also delimits a break when the next node is an element, not only when it is a
string. Preserve the existing string behavior and ensure the emitted markup
keeps a following link separate from the break when reparsed.
