Contracts docs: public key material encoding and validation #620
Branch: Open your PR against dev. PRs targeting main are closed automatically.
Description:
Write apps/backend/docs/contracts-key-material.md for lib/keys.ts, the single validator every key-accepting endpoint runs. Client implementers need exact encodings, and the REST schema reference (#270) covers request shapes, not key formats.
Acceptance criteria:
A table of every key type the server accepts — identity key, signed prekey, one-time prekey, signature, MLS key package — with encoding (base64), raw versus SPKI form, and exact byte length (ED25519_RAW_KEY_BYTES 32, ED25519_SPKI_BYTES 44, ED25519_SIG_BYTES 64, MLS key package 32–4096)
Documents how the web client converts between raw and SPKI (rawEd25519PublicKeyToSpki / spkiToRawEd25519PublicKey in apps/web/src/lib/x3dh.ts)
Documents what signature is verified over what bytes for signed prekeys
Gives one valid and one rejected example payload per key type
