Description

This PR updates the kernel configuration (.config) to enable support for loop devices and ZRAM. Previously, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP was disabled, which prevented the system from mounting disk images (such as ISOs and IMGs) via GNOME Disk Image Mounter (udisksctl). Additionally, ZRAM support has been enabled to optimize memory management on modern AMD Ryzen systems.

Changes

The following kernel configuration options were updated and validated using make olddefconfig:

  • Loop Device Support:

    • Enabled CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=m (compiled as a module).
    • Auto-configured CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP_MIN_COUNT=8.
    • Enabled CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ZONED_LOOP=y for zoned block device support on loopbacks.
  • ZRAM Support:

    • Enabled CONFIG_ZRAM=y (built-in) for compressed swap in RAM.
    • Configured default compression algorithm to lzo-rle (CONFIG_ZRAM_DEF_COMP="lzo-rle").
  • RAM Disk Support:

    • Enabled CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM=m as an optional module.

Verification & Testing

  1. Verified changes manually in .config files.
  2. Ran make olddefconfig to ensure dependency sanity; the Kconfig parser successfully generated the updated configuration (.config MD5 hash updated successfully).
  3. Confirmed CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP is now correctly set to compile as a module (=m), resolving the missing loop-control device issue on runtime.
