feat(zaparoo): grant the native CRT scanout lease, and resync stuck axes - #33
Conversation
ZAPAROO-SCANOUT-2 now has a NATIVE grant beside PROXY: on native CRT output the frontend may map Menu's video window through the scanout module, with no HDMI proxy. Only the v2 module profile is accepted. With Direct Video on and CRT mode off, the framebuffer mux is held away from the Linux console until the launcher's VT switch, so boot text is not shown before the frontend paints. After a launcher key check, a direction still held from an axis is compared with the kernel's current axis value. A direction the kernel no longer reports is released; one it still reports is logged, which points at the pad or its driver. The log heartbeat only stamps a tick when the log grew since the last one.

📝 Walkthrough
Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to With Direct Video on and CRT mode off, a failed or timed-out switch to the launcher's VT can show another VT's console text on screen, and nothing retries the switch. This should be fixed before merge. A smaller issue is that a failed log heartbeat write can leave new output without a timestamp until more output arrives. Pre-merge checks |

…failed log stamps Releasing the Direct Video hold after a failed VT switch put another VT's console on the DAC with no retry. Keep the hold and retry the switch, bounded so a VT that never activates cannot leave the output black. A failed heartbeat write no longer records the unstamped size, so the stamp is retried on the next pass.
ZAPAROO-SCANOUT-2request is now answered withZAPAROO-SCANOUT-2 NATIVEon native CRT output, beside the existingPROXYgrant for HDMI. With it the frontend maps Menu's video window through the scanout module instead of/dev/mem, and no HDMI proxy is set up.scanout_profile.cppaccepts only the v2 module profile, andscanout_conflict.hreports the native window as a conflicting physical range.alt_launcher_hide_direct_video_fb), so kernel text is not shown before the frontend paints. One-line hook invideo.cpp.support/zaparoo/launcher_axis_resync.inc, two hook lines ininput.cpp. After a launcher key check, a direction still held from an axis is compared with the kernel's current value for that axis. A direction the kernel no longer reports is released. One the kernel still reports is logged asaxis N held at edge E; kernel value V.[zt N]tick is only written when the log grew since the last tick, so an idle log is not filled with ticks.ZAPAROO_FORK.mdandSCANOUT.mdare updated for the new hooks and the grant.Needs ZaparooProject/Menu_MiSTer#9 (module ABI 2) and ZaparooProject/zaparoo-frontend#539.
Checked:
./docker-build.shbuildsMiSTer_Zaparoo;scanout_profile_testpasses. On a DE10-Nano with a PAL CRT the native grant is taken and the frontend runs on it.Not verified:
