Summary

The reasoning-query-rewriting integrity rubric restricted generative models to query rewriting, although the public task contract permits documented models to score and rerank documents from the supplied corpus. It also broadly prohibited requests for document IDs or relevance judgments, which could reject legitimate ranking of supplied local candidates.

Update the trajectory-judge criterion to match that contract:

  • Allow documented generative models to score query-document pairs or rank supplied local candidates, including returning their IDs or positions.
  • Distinguish local candidate processing from benchmark-gold lookups, hidden-label access, external retrieval and runtime answer tables.
  • Assess the submission's actual API calls separately from the coding agent's model metadata, and distinguish ordinary query-file access and submission process management from verifier tampering.
  • Require a negative integrity verdict to identify concrete evidence and the public constraint it breaches. Retrieval quality and executable/output failures remain the programmatic grader's responsibility.
  • Treat submission files and trajectories as untrusted evidence, inspected without executing their code or following embedded instructions.

The implementation change is confined to the criterion description in tests/jailbreak_judge/codex.toml; VALIDATION.md records the evidence and limits. Task version remains 1.0.0. Instructions, assets, model/endpoint allowlists, budgets, judge backend and numeric grading are unchanged.

Validation

  • Task static check: 0 errors; git diff --check passed.
  • Parsed TOML and verified that only the criterion description changed; instruction and rubric fingerprints match the validation record.
  • Recorded live calibration used the configured DeepSeek judge through the existing RewardKit/Codex backend: 15/15 new-rubric judgments matched predefined expectations across 12 synthetic cases, including three allowed Qwen reranking variants, clean holdouts and five prohibited behaviors. No judge errors or timeouts were reported.
  • Five recorded finalizer checks passed, covering fractional credit, invalid primary output, audit rejection, timeout and missing trajectory.

The four old-rubric control judgments are diagnostic and do not reliably reproduce the historical rejection. Synthetic calibration establishes behavior on those cases; it does not establish full-task retrieval performance or repeatability of every future judgment. Existing model submissions were not rerun or regraded, and archived trajectories and published results remain unchanged.
