docs: reconcile replay repair evidence after callback merge - #2318
This PR records the integration of the release-replay repair after #2312 carried its production repair, oracle coverage and patch Changeset into main. It resolves two document conflicts while preserving main's newer evidence and the original source bindings.
The branch includes exact main 30e85464ed2b9b12c5f10981a062427a1fc8daaa through a normal merge commit. Against that base, the final diff adds one integration section to the versioned review record. Production, tests, manifests, the lockfile and Changesets are identical to that main commit.
🔬 Oracle Coverage
This integration adds no behavior or oracle changes. The historical review record retains the law, primary owner, RED, GREEN, mutants, review findings and limits. It covers first-demand retention during sibling replay, subscription-scoped errors, deferred acquisition and controlled Node SQLite final catch-up.
The original 48-history campaign failed public retention before the production repair. The final historical run passed 1,787 tests in 11 files. Separate browser and Solid results retain their original source bindings. These finite histories do not establish arbitrary providers, framework schedules or browser processes.
At historical head 5616198b63dee7347b8e06cda50b13812cc571cd, the remote compressed-size result was −2 B. Local production package gzip decreased by 1 B against 035a5260ef994ce3aabed77a3f09b35c71482a9a. The local measurement command was:
pnpm_config_verify_deps_before_run=false pnpm size:compare --base 035a5260ef994ce3aabed77a3f09b35c71482a9a --exact-base --packages db --files
Those measurements describe the earlier repair. The current documentation diff changes no shipped bytes. CodeRabbit's historical review remains separate from review coverage of the new head. The failed #2311 release attempt published no packages.
✅ Checklist
I have tested this code locally with pnpm test.
Prettier, git diff --check and pnpm lint:changed pass for the resolved integration.
The final runtime and test tree matches exact main. No broad local test campaign was repeated.
CI on the new head must finish before the authorized merge. Full local pnpm test, builds and dependency installation did not run for this document update.
🚀 Release Impact
This change affects published code, and I have generated a changeset.
This change is docs/CI/dev-only (no release).
The original patch Changeset is already on main through #2312. This PR adds no duplicate release entry. Release publication remains a separate task.
Merging this PR will not cause a version bump for any packages. If these changes should not result in a new version, you're good to go. If these changes should result in a version bump, you need to add a changeset.
This PR includes no changesets

Walkthrough
The change adds first-demand replay holds during sibling truncate replay and scopes replay failure and coverage comparisons by subscription. It also extends generated database and browser histories for replay settlement, deferred acquisition, and final catch-up.

First-demand replay hold and replacement handling .changeset/retain-loading-sibling-replay.md, packages/db/src/collection/subscription.ts, packages/db/src/query/live/collection-config-builder.ts, packages/db/src/query/live/ARCHITECTURE.md, docs/contributing/oracle-reviews/2026-10-30-release-replay-retention.md
A subscription without local replay state now joins an active sibling replay before starting demand acquisition. Failed-demand handling checks for pending truncate replacements. The changeset and architecture notes describe the publication-retention behavior.
Subscription-scoped replay accounting and generated histories packages/db/tests/query/load-subset-replay-refinement-oracle.test.ts, docs/contributing/oracle-coverage.md, docs/contributing/oracle-reviews/2026-10-30-release-replay-retention.md
The oracle tracks load ownership by subscription and scopes successful coverage, request-error checks, and replay error ordering accordingly. Bounded campaigns exercise new sibling demands, settlement order, retries, and sibling failure persistence.
Generated self-join histories vary reader type, load timing, and gate order. They check acquisition counts, readiness, projected rows, and preload completion.
Browser final catch-up histories packages/browser-db-sqlite-persistence/tests/multi-tab-electric-oracle.test.ts, docs/contributing/oracle-coverage.md, docs/contributing/oracle-reviews/2026-10-30-release-replay-retention.md
Generated histories can end with reset, stopped-source, or lagging-commit states. Final catch-up records source restarts, durable divergence repairs, and lagging-commit rewrites.
TanStack/db issue 2294: The issue concerns publishing new rows after failed ordered replay. This change adds replay retention handling and generated checks for sibling replay failures.
TanStack/db issue 2118: The issue concerns retaining complete public state after failed reset or truncate replay. This change updates replacement handling and adds controlled replay coverage.
TanStack/db issue 2315: The issue concerns a later include-load error replacing a replay error. This change scopes replay verdict and error-order comparisons by subscription.
TanStack/db issue 2326: The issue concerns publishing a window before its include demand settles. This change makes first-demand acquisition join an active sibling replay barrier.
TanStack/db issue 2329: The issue concerns missing reset-abandoned recovery reach during final catch-up. This change adds reset endings and measures final-catch-up reach.

Scope sibling coverage to the failed subscription.
The sibling-success history uses different plans and subscriptions. Its successful load is a replay participant, not an ordinary load after the failure. When the replay completes, its verdict clears request-error entries source-wide and publishes the replay failure.
The current source-wide covered check still treats the successful sibling as recovery and skips checkRequestErrors. Scope loadedKeys, askedLater, and covered to the failed subscription so the assertion checks the replay failure at this cut. Keep recovered source-wide because replay verdicts clear all plans.

Break the deferred joined-demand completion cycle.
When a deferred first demand joins an existing sibling replay, initialResult.promise becomes a replay participant. checkTruncateReplayComplete waits for that participant, but the inspected resume path resolves initialResult from replayState.completion.promise. The joined replay is not started by startSubsetDemand, so the sibling publication can remain pending until a later truncate starts this demand or the demand is aborted.
The succeed() call does not require a matching start(), and publishReplayRows safely handles undefined privateRows. The required fix is specific to the deferred participant: provide an independent resume/settlement path before using its promise to hold sibling completion.

Update the deferred first-demand join path that assigns joinedReplay to
truncateReplayState so its initialResult participant can settle independently of
replayState.completion.promise. Ensure sibling replay publication can complete
that participant without waiting for startSubsetDemand, a later truncate, or
abort, and preserve checkTruncateReplayComplete’s ability to finish the sibling
replay.
