This change makes the traversable edge property optional but sets/overrides the value to None. This will discard the property during graph conversion while still supporting old collectors to set the value without needing any collector changes.

Note: this will also remove the property for all existing collectors during conversion.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Edge traversal status can now be unspecified rather than defaulting to false.
    • Ingested edges no longer include a traversal status when it is unspecified. This keeps the status from being reported as a definitive false value when no value has been set.

…) but default to None to discard value during conversion

Walkthrough

EdgeProperties.traversable now accepts None and defaults to it. The dataclass sets the field to None even when given a boolean. Tests check this behavior and verify that ingested edge properties omit traversable.

Changes

Edge Traversability Handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update EdgeProperties traversable behavior
src/openhound/core/models/entries.py, src/openhound/core/models/entries_dataclass.py, tests/test_edge_properties.py
The model declarations allow None. The dataclass sets traversable to None regardless of the supplied value. Tests cover both boolean inputs.
Check ingested edge properties
tests/test_bhe_job_scheduling.py
The mock ingest endpoint records edge properties, and the ingestion test checks that none contain traversable. Other edits reformat test parameters and an assertion without changing behavior.

Collectors using Pydantic edges can still send traversable values. Fix that conversion path before merging so the property is discarded consistently.

A rabbit checks the edge one day,
True and false both fade away.
None is set in each small test,
Ingested edges pass the check.
The rabbit hops and rests.

Discard supplied values from Pydantic edges too.

If a collector creates EdgeProperties(traversable=True), this model retains True. BaseAsset.edges permits that Pydantic edge, and the conversion path serializes its properties without removing the boolean. The downstream graph model accepts the property, so the ingested edge can still contain traversable. Normalize this field at the shared conversion boundary, or apply the same override to the Pydantic model. (github.com)
