Summary

Closes #402.

The bootstrap script in the Synology ARM guide installs docker-compose as a wrapper that runs Compose v1.29.2 in a container. That version is unmaintained, and the wrapper fails to find files passed with -f and secrets files referenced in a compose file.

Changes to docker-arm-synology.md:

  • Add a section that removes the wrapper and installs the official Compose v2 CLI plugin for aarch64 at /usr/local/lib/docker/cli-plugins, following Docker's manual plugin install steps.
  • Replace the Portainer example with a pointer to the Docker Guide's Portainer guidance and an optional ctop install as a lightweight terminal monitor, as suggested in the issue.
  • Note in the deprecation banner that the guide now covers replacing Compose v1.

Testing

  • markdownlint-cli2 passes.
  • Both download URLs (releases/latest/download/docker-compose-linux-aarch64 and ctop v0.7.7 linux-arm64) return 200.
  • Not tested on Synology ARM hardware.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The bootstrap script installs Compose v1.29.2 through a containerized
wrapper, which fails to resolve files passed with -f and secrets files.
Document replacing it with the official Compose v2 CLI plugin for
aarch64, and swap the Portainer example for ctop, in line with the
Docker Guide's advice to avoid Portainer.

[Suggestion] Docker-Compose in a Container for Synology ARM devices causes bugs -> use the official latest version!
