Active implementation checkpoint — 20 September 2026

One-agent mode is active. Exact merged inputs are AppScene 30cb3228602667077f90b8ad5d0fa7a2207ec0f3, WebScene 5b97aac934dee450ec2b01291a004b246dc08364, and unchanged Code OSS 645f29cc3176500b4b5762ba887cf2a7f0ffdf2c. Local vscode-demo is 80e98f41, intentionally unpushed with Actions disabled.

Merged focused stacks

The WebScene portability/runtime train remains merged through PR #862. AppScene then merged PR #375 (canonical pinned Skia sources), #377 (staged patched V8 SDK consumption), #379 (Cocoa drag retirement), #381 (linked WebScene options ABI), #383 (self-contained document-source header), and #385 (safe Cocoa tracking/wheel classification). These fixes were discovered and landed in dependency order by the exact family producer.

The current Release family producer is green: Dawn/V8/Skia verified cache hits; all 31 AppScene tests pass; the installed 2,906-file SDK and macOS compiler/runtime profile verify; archive SHA-256 is 025f2fecc843d76e6b32911f1d866c743b5de4972143a5c4c178a776210d8454.

Goal

Publish a relocatable installed full-V8 WebScene::Runtime component for Linux x64 and integrate the existing verified Windows C/C++ Runtime package as an AppScene SDK dependency. The source portability train under #687 is merged, but the Linux SDK remains Native-only and AppScene has no public Windows Runtime application component consuming the existing Windows package.

Scope

  • Linux: build and install the native V8 engine, runtime headers, exact ABI/export ledger, runtime resources, ICU/snapshot/data dependencies, and licenses.
  • Windows: retain the existing RID/architecture/ABI/hash-verified C/C++ package and expose the metadata needed for exact AppScene SDK/CLI consumption.
  • Export CMake components consumed by AppScene::Runtime; never require Chromium, CEF, WebView, Electron, or a browser process.
  • Preserve the linked resolver contract, including semantics, typed host requests, drag, graphics transports, media, diagnostics, inspector, work wakeups, and device-specific GPU interop.
  • Make archives reproducible and relocatable with exact source/toolchain/dependency manifests and fail-closed verification.
  • Keep maps/symbols/debug packages separate; enforce logical/allocated size, entry count, duplicate payload, runtime dependency, and extracted-cache cleanup budgets.

Gates

Author Linux GCC/Clang and Windows MSVC compile/link/installed-consumer gates plus ABI/export comparison, package relocation, unchanged Code OSS startup, zero idle frame demand, scheduler fairness, CSS/layout/scene counters, memory/lifecycle, and VM/physical-GPU matrices. The current fast-merge direction permits deferred execution; the issue remains open until retained current-head product evidence passes.
