feat(curriculum): course-vs-code drift CI (#19) - #25
Conversation
Adds scripts/check_course_drift.py (stdlib-only, 4 gates: pins, tags, vocab, imports) + .github/workflows/course-drift.yml on every PR + reviewed exceptions list. Fixes module-10 fences the check caught (ConsensusEngine -> QWEDClient.verify_consensus; LogicVerifier import path + result accessor). Module-6 guard/audit lessons allowlisted as known drift pending a content rewrite.

- Line 12: Update the workflow permissions to grant only read access to
repository contents, and configure the actions/checkout step with
persist-credentials disabled. Preserve the existing checkout behavior while
preventing the token from being stored in local Git configuration.
In `@scripts/check_course_drift.py`:
- Around line 45-48: Update PIN_RE and the surrounding parsing in the
course-drift check so complete pip install commands are scanned rather than
stopping after the first package. Validate every qwed package specification,
including later packages such as qwed-a2a, while preserving existing extras and
version-operator handling.
- Line 135: Update the vocabulary-exception lookup in the course-drift checker
so exceptions match a specific occurrence, not every instance of a token in a
file. Extend the exception key and its construction to include normalized line
text or another stable context identifier, and update the corresponding
allowlist entries while preserving existing valid exceptions.
- Around line 157-158: Update the SyntaxError handling in the fenced-block
validation flow so syntax errors do not skip QWED import validation; use
FROM_IMPORT_RE as a fallback to extract and validate imports from unparseable
illustrative blocks, while preserving normal AST-based validation for parseable
blocks.
- Around line 169-170: Update the import validation branch around
import_allowlist and failures so unresolved modules require explicit exceptions
for every imported symbol, rather than accepting a module-level exception.
Ensure imported aliases such as VerificationReceipt and AuditLog are checked
against their module.symbol entries before recording a failure, while preserving
existing behavior for resolvable modules.
- Line 88: Update check_pins to compare pinned and latest versions using PEP
440-compatible ordering instead of _version_tuple, preventing TypeError and
incorrect ordering for prerelease and other suffix formats; record versions that
cannot be parsed as drift failures.

Review fixes: exact pins must equal latest (>= stays minimum-version); crash-free PEP 440 ordering; multi-package pin scanning; regex fallback validates imports in syntax-broken fences; unresolvable modules need per-symbol exceptions (drop module-level pass); vocab exceptions scoped to one occurrence via contains; workflow gets contents:read, persist-credentials:false, SHA-pinned actions, integration extras + locked installs. Local green; mechanisms negative-tested.

punctuation such as ), comma, or period, or normalize those permitted trailing

is limited to a single logical shell command rather than spanning newlines or
later Markdown prose. Parse commands line-by-line while preserving explicit

resulting command text.

Sonar: same-length return tuples, --only-binary install flag, regex simplifications (no-backtracking version parse, lower-complexity pin scan), check_pins split. CodeRabbit: line-bounded pin scanning with continuations, tag trailing-punctuation strip, wildcard needs explicit module.* exception. All negative-tested; local green.

PLAIN_IMPORT_RE accepts as-aliases so aliased modules can't escape the fallback gate; _from_import_targets split into AST/fallback helpers (Sonar complexity). Verified: aliased pair extracts fully; local green.

User description
Mechanical boundary check between course text and implementation, per #19.
What: stdlib-only scripts/check_course_drift.py (4 gates: PyPI pin freshness, tag resolution, banned-vocab context, fenced-import resolution) + .github/workflows/course-drift.yml on every PR + scripts/course_drift_exceptions.json reviewed like code.
Proof it catches real drift (red run before fixes, qwed 7.2.0 / qwed-a2a 0.3.0 / qwed-infra 0.3.0 installed):
COURSE DRIFT DETECTED:
This PR: fixes the two module-10 fences (ConsensusEngine -> QWEDClient.verify_consensus; LogicVerifier import path + developer_fields accessor), documents 3 legit vocab examples as exceptions, allowlists module-6 guard/audit lessons as known drift pending a content rewrite. Check is green after.
Closes #19.
