Walkthrough

The Java window tree now expands its root after refresh. JavaDriver.Send now measures response-wait time and returns an error payload when CommunicationTimout is reached.

RefreshTreeContent tracks whether the selected window is Java. After the tree is shown, it expands the root when one exists.

Java driver response timeout

Send measures elapsed time with a Stopwatch and returns an error payload when CommunicationTimout is reached. The wait loop no longer pumps UI events.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: Moderate · previous review bee08

Java driver requests now time out, which prevents indefinite hangs. However, a reply that arrives after a timeout can be matched to the wrong later request, which can produce incorrect automation results. While a window-explorer call waits for the agent, the Ginger UI can also freeze for up to the communication timeout. Both issues should be addressed or explicitly accepted before merge.

The driver timed each waiting beat,
And sent an error when time was complete.
Then hopped away beneath the moon,

Discard the connection after a response timeout.

If the agent replies after this return, the reply remains on clientSocket. The next Send can read that reply as the response to a different request. Close or replace the connection on timeout before another request uses it.

// No DoEvents here: pumping UI messages lets a UI event re-enter Send on the same thread

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Keep the UI responsive without re-entering Send.

When a synchronous window-explorer call runs on the UI thread, removing General.DoEvents() blocks UI event handling until the agent replies or CommunicationTimout expires. The default timeout is 120 seconds. Move the wait off the UI thread rather than restoring event pumping inside Send.
