Summary

• Player: tapping the artist line on a song credited to several artists opens an Artists sheet (the song menu's Artists page, now shared), so each artist can be opened. Search, browse and YouTube Music tracks keep every credited artist. ([Bug]: Selecting a secondary artist on a multi-artist track opens the primary artist's profile #1638)
• Media notification: session artwork loads through the app's Coil loader (OkHttp, proxy, disk cache) and is retried after 2, 10 and 30 s, with hqdefault as the fallback for a missing large YouTube thumbnail. Media3 only loads a song's artwork once, so one failed fetch used to leave the whole song without art. The size cap for [Bug]: cannot use a recycled source in createBitmap #1017/[Bug]: IllegalArgumentException in Bitmap.java:942 #1231 is unchanged. ([Bug]: Album artwork fails to load in the Android notification player during extended background playback #1637)
• Device sync: a stop that arrives before the sync service has gone foreground waits until it has (SyncForegroundGate), and a new session waits for a cancelled one's cleanup. A sync that failed its first dial at once crashed with "did not then call startForeground". ([Bug]: RemoteServiceException in ActivityThread.java:2280 #1639)
• Metrolist import reads song_artist_map and artist, saving every song's artists in credit order with the first artist's channel. Rows are written with mergeMetadata, so importing the same backup again fixes playlists already imported. The importer moved out of BackupRepository into MetrolistImporter. ([Bug]: Importing a playlist from Metrolist doesn't show the artist names #1619)
• Search pages load and parse on the network dispatcher instead of the main thread. The version code is read with PackageInfoCompat, so crash reports, Diagnostics and About work on Android 8. ([Bug]: Search option stucks #1635)
• Downloads: the SABR fallback keeps the chosen audio track, and saved blocks are matched by audio track too, so a resume never mixes two dubs that share an itag and size. ([Bug]: Video Download still downloads the wrong audio #1634)
• Search: YouTube playlists that give no count, such as Mixes, no longer show "0 videos".
• .gitignore: metro* only applies at the repo root, so it no longer hides MetrolistImporter.kt.

  • Joining a code for a closed port shows "Couldn't reach the other device" with no crash.
  • Skipping tracks offline keeps the right notification art.
  • Search loads, and Mixes show no count while playlists keep theirs.

Risk and compatibility

• No Room schema change. TransferState gains an optional trackId; old state files still read, and a paused download of a dubbed video starts its audio over once.

• Session artwork bypasses Coil's memory cache so a ROM that recycles session bitmaps ([Bug]: cannot use a recycled source in createBitmap #1017) never touches one the UI holds.

• The sync service may briefly show its notification when a sync fails within milliseconds.

• The change does not introduce secrets, private data, or unexpected telemetry.

• New user-facing text uses Android string resources.

• Dependency and lockfile changes are intentional and limited to this PR.

• Room schema changes include the required version bump and migration, or this PR does not change the Room schema.

• Breaking changes and upgrade steps are clearly documented.
