Ask, without leaving chat

• /docs <query> — searches the documentation and answers with links
• /issues, /releases, /sponsors, /packages, /project — live project answers
• Lookups are visible only to you by default, so browsing the issue list never clutters the channel — add share:true when the list is the answer someone else needs

Your GitHub work is recognized automatically

• Run /link github once: merged PRs earn the Contributor role, package authors and sponsors are recognized the same way — no asking, no waiting
• First contributions and milestones get celebrated in the project feed

Chat flows back into the project — the part that makes helping in Discord count:

• A good bug report or idea in chat becomes a GitHub issue in one right-click, linked back to the conversation
• A #showcase post can be promoted straight into a pull request adding it to the site's adopters list
• A solid support answer can be saved into the documentation FAQ as a PR — so it's searchable forever, not buried in scrollback

Discord is great for engagement and community, but has some issues with searchability, see post like 1, 2, 3.

To be clear, I'm not saying "don't do this!". But it might be worth thinking about how to migrate important conversations that need to be preserved either off the discord, or into a more searchable format. Having a section that uses the Forum style of threading can be better for longer-term threads/discussions. Having clear guidelines on when to move conversations off the platform so they can be made more visible and searchable, etc.

The vast majority of 'discussions' were me answering questions, which I'd rather do on Discord. That and I have a number of Discord bots in the works are really the only factors that motivated this.

Everyone is going to have an opinion, but frankly there wasn't a lot of participation, so I feel pretty comfortable making the call on this.
