Windows 11 ET Not Downloading

Description

So i used just a compose file, and i did run docker compose up, but it ended up failing to downlaod, and is using some kind of "Static link" even though those are dead? and i waited a while for like an hour and its not really doing anything.

It looks like you are running this manually inside GitHub Codespaces/Azure. The /workspaces/... path and 6.8.0-1052-azure kernel are strong indicators of that.

The initial error:

ERROR: Request to Microsoft servers failed: The requested URL returned error: 403.

is not necessarily a problem. I tested the same v6.04 release in Codespaces with Windows 11 Enterprise Evaluation, and the initial Microsoft request can fail there as well. The container then falls back to the static Microsoft download link and the installation completes successfully.

What is unusual in your case is that it apparently remains at:

Normally, if that download fails, the downloader should print an error, retry it using a single connection, and eventually continue with another download method/mirror if necessary. It should not remain there indefinitely without producing any further output.

However, you are also not using the provided Codespaces setup.

For Codespaces, please use the Codespaces button in the README. The provided template is specifically configured and tested for this project, including making the additional disk space available that Windows requires. You do not need to manually run docker compose up.

After creating the Codespace using that button, open the Ports tab and click the globe icon to open the web interface.

Your current setup only has:

DISK: 11 GB (ext4)

The Windows 11 Enterprise ISO alone is around 7 GB, so there is not enough space available to complete the installation anyway. The provided Codespaces template works around this storage limitation.

Please try the supplied Codespaces template first. I have just tested that exact setup with v6.04 and Windows 11 Enterprise Evaluation and it installs successfully.
